About the program: "Thumbody" is a self-esteem program designed
to promote the importance of individuality and good, sound decision making. The
importance of being your own best friend in regard to good mental health is
discussed. A volunteer dressed as a large thumb helps to bring the concept alive by
sharing our special "Thumbody" song, along with hug coupons and hugs. The program
is presented in the Muncie city and Delaware County elementary schools.
Positive and caring persons with the ability to interact with children and
encourage self-expression are welcome as volunteers. A one-hour training session to
view our videos and go over materials and format of the presentation is required.
