About the program: The Muncie Children's Museum is a vibrant
place to which children and families come to explore, discover, and learn. Our
mission is to enhance learning with exciting, hands-on, interactive exhibits and
programs for youth.
June, July, & August:
The summer calendar this year includes the Saturday Science Series, MCM
Gardeners, Wacky Wednesdays, Funtime Fridays, Our Animal Friends, Behind the Scenes
Tours, and Summer Camps in addition to our regular exhibits and daily programming.
Saturday Science is offered at 11 a.m. on the second Saturday of June, July, and
August. Featuring fundamental scientific experiments in biology,chemistry, and
physics, it is a hands-on experience and free with regular museum admission.
MCM Gardeners is a weekly Saturday morning program that provides an opportunity
to have a great learning experience outdoors in our Outdoor Learning Center. Every
Saturday at 11 a.m. now through the harvest in the fall,children can take part in
such seasonal projects as planting flowers, planting native Indiana crops, learning
composting, caring for the pond, weeding, feeding, and ultimately harvesting what
has been planted. This is a hands-on experience. All garden tools will be
furnished, and the program is free with regular museum admission.
Every Wednesday drop in from 11 to 4 p.m. for a Wacky Wednesday program. The
Wacky Wednesdays lineup will include wacky Westerns on July 3, Wacky Wednesday
Wildflowers on July 10, Wacky Weather on July 17, Wacky Weavers on July 24,
Wednesday Wacky Wheelers on July 31, Wacky Wings on August 7, and Wacky Wordrobe
on August 14. Wacky Wednesdays are hands-on educational sessions with crafts,
snacks, and related activities. All materials are provided, and programs are free
with regular museum admission. Wacky Wednesdays are spnosred by Meijer.
Admission prices are $5 per person regardless of age. Special group rates apply
with groups of ten or more. Family membership is $60 per year and includes
unlimited visits to the museum as well as reciprocity in nearly 250 other museums
around the nation and the world. Summer passes, good for June, July, and August,
are $30 and good for admission only.
